Congratulations Mr. Vaidy for successfully completion of Mumbai Marathon.
Mumbai: The 2015 edition of the Mumbai Marathon started on Sunday at 5:40 am in which around 40,000 people took part. This years edition of the marathon will both start and finish at the Azad Maidan sports ground in South Mumbai and will bring together thousands of long-distance runners, senior citizens, physically challenged participants and amateur runners.
According to the Free Press Journal, this edition will also serve as a trail for the World Championships to be held in Beijing in August 2015.
In this marathon, 40,485 participants with 4,325 amateur participants took part and the total prize money for the winner is $3,60,000. While 14,321 participants are running for half marathon, 20,050 participants took part for their dream run. With 1,175 senior citizen participants, 290 total number of disabled participants.
The 2015 edition of the Mumbai Marathon, the largest marathon in Southeast Asia, runners will turn at the Trident Hotel toward Wankhede Stadium, continuing north past the Babulnath Temple and Jaslok Hospital. At the spectacular Rajiv Ghandi Sea Link, the course will turn east toward the Lilavati Hospital and follow the Mahim Causeway until they reach the original racecourse, this time following it in a southerly direction.
