“Think Think Think”
My mind is always in conflict. A conflict between the various options possible or available in front of me. Options that are good and options that are bad. Options that give short term pleasures and options that may not give immediate satisfaction or solutions but may have a positive outcome later. There is also a never ending conflict whether to act or not to act in any specific situation. Also sometimes, I am faced with situations where the wisdom lies in whether to act or re-act. This kind of conflict puts a lot of mental stress and an emotional turmoil.
Since I may not be able to handle this upheaval of thoughts, I start relying on my reflexes instead of rational thought process. I act, more like a reaction to a stimuli, than, taking a well calculated action. I give into my basic instincts of immediate gratification of my senses. I go for a quick fix of my problems or mental and emotional turbulence.
However, If I just remember at that time that this is my monkey mind. It is the nature of monkey mind to “ Quick Fix”. If I just try to practice .. ……….
“Think! Think! Think!”
….I may be able to stop myself from reacting to the situation. If I just think, clearly, I may not give in to this ‘quick reaction’ or ‘auto response’ of my mind. I will be able to evaluate the situation, evaluate my action, evaluate consequences and then…act accordingly.
I will remind myself of this Mantra….’Think. Think. Think’, whenever I am confronted with a desire or a situation which makes me go to my basic auto response or sense gratification. I will think of harm and damages done in the past due to this.
The time taken to think and the thought process will weaken my reflex action and the desire to give in to the basic instincts.
If I think, I may not react…..
So I will remember to….
“Think! Think! Think!”
